Persandingan di Melaka

I've been single for almost 3 years after being dumped. Friends tried several times to match me with other guys but no suitor. I chose to remain single. I spent time window shopping, watching movies, reading...all by myself/ with good friends. I've finished my final year in law school and started chambering at a conveyancing firm in Jalan TAR. I was tired of being in and out of love. Being single had given me the time to get to know & love myself.

I went to Linda's house. Linda was my classmate in STF. She brought me to her MIL's house. Her MIL said she has 2 nephews-one a lawyer & another an engineer. She wanted to introduce me to the lawyer. I didnt take her word seriously. A month after that meeting, Shahrul called me. I was watching tv with Ajan (now a law lecturer in UUM) & Ida (now a magistrate in Sepang). He wanted to speak to Nor Hamilia. Ida & Ajan had a good laugh. He introduced himself & a week after that we went out. Shahrul was overweight, has sepet eyes (inherited from his maternal grandmother who was a chinese convert), bald. I was attracted to him because he fulfilled these 3 criterias that I looked for in a guy : a graduate, non-smoker, tak tinggal sembahyang. After meeting his family, we decided to get engaged 2 mths later & we got married after his final exam. When he was doing his Masters in UM, I was doing my final year. I knew some of his friends but our path never crossed. So near yet so far.

Kami dinikahkan oleh Tuan Hj Yusof, abah's friend. Shahrul's entourage about 50 of them came from Kuala Lumpur & stayed at D'Village Air Keroh. In the evening merasa jugak pakai costume nyonya Melaka. The next day kami disandingkan. Before that, I had to change 5-6 costumes. Memang adat org Melaka, kalau tak ikut, your sedara mara akan kata "awak tu bukan janda. Anak dara mesti ada acara tukar-tukar baju". Every time tukar akan jln keliling rumah tunjuk kat tetamu, then posing maut atas pelamin. Kak Zukiah from Jastina was my mak andam. Before I put in the costume, ada acara potong anak rambut to determine virgin ke tak. Kalau anak rambut jatuh berselerak dlm a bowl of water, bukan virgin. Kalau jatuh elok, virgin. Ikut adat, mak andam kena tau so that dia boleh do something to make you berseri. They believe kalau dah tak dara kurang berseri atas pelamin.

Auntie Fatimah, our Godmother brought her entourage to cook for the occasion. The guests semua puji. Glad it was finally over. Penat sgt.
